Window with a Sea View
Linnea Larsson’s new book “Window with a Sea View” is an exquisite collection of subtle interiors evoking the singular landscape and life of the Gower Peninsula in Wales. Larsson left her native Sweden in 1996. She settle in Swansea and was instantly captivated by the beauty of the surrounding landscape and has since made her home on the Gower.

By focusing on windows, I am dealing with the way we see things.

Our window on the world. The curtains as an aperture, the window as a divider of outer and inner space. A meditation of the moment, while everything is constantly changing and the window is waiting.

The photographs are mostly interiors. They are still and calm and give us haunting clues as to the people who would normally inhabit the spaces which we see. But there is always more, always the realisation that the solid objects that we see have a relationship with a spiritual world the access to which may be the window with the sea view…..

Larsson’s book will be launched in the autumn at the Chapters Art Centre in Cardiff. It may be purchased now through Tate Modern, The Barbican Arts Centre, Zwemmers and The Photographers’ Gallery. ISBN 0-9541632-0-6

The relationship between what we see and what we know is never settled.
