New Work by Antonio Julio Duarte |
|
Antonio Julio Duarte's photography may begin in collaboration with patients in psychiatric hospitals, in shelters for homeless people, in kennels or in daily urban life. The curator Miguel von Haffe Perez identifies the work as emphasising the "need for a non-spectactular representation of reality." (Anamnese, The Book ed. Fundação Ilídio Pinho, Oporto, Portugal, 2006)

“Antonio Julio Duarte’s intention is to challenge what viewers think they know by means of what he discloses. These photographs are valuable by themselves, not by any name they may carry; they are ontological in nature, rather than evidences of a situation.” Joao Pinharand\" (Curator of Art at EDP Foundation, Lisbon)
