Please Introduce yourself and your father?

Ali Ormerod

I’m  the daughter of photographer Michael Ormerod. I was just 11 months old when my father lost his life whilst on a trip to take photographs ofAmerica. Fortunately, I have always had a copy of his first book.

I’m not a photographer myself, but recently rediscovered my dad’s old cameras which still work perfectly. This winter I retraced my father’s journey across The United States to take photos with his Leica in locations where he had captured great images, 33 years later.

My father originally studied economics but soon discovered that his true love was photography.

Why is it important to share the legacy of your father?

Ali Ormerod

I’m often told that my father was a photographer’s photographer. I’m hoping that with the recovered interest to revisit analogue photography, there might be a whole new audience for his work that allows for engagement, enjoyment and reconsideration.

Sharing these images, it preserves and honours his work, ensuring that his vision of America and contributions to photography are remembered and appreciated.

What can we look for when engaging with the unseen work?

Ali Ormerod

Black and white images that further develop the story we are familiar while being introduced to new characters. We are invited to share moments we anticipate, we see the human ability to tolerate ambiguity without flinching.

Empty space, momentum and common place are considered with the levity that characterises my father’s photographic eye.

When can we expect the book and exhibition to be seen?

Ali Ormerod

RRB Photobooks are aiming for an October book release and run along side the exhibition to be held in London in the first week or two of October.

Michael Ormerod’s prints usually start at £900, why supporting the rewards campaign in Kickstarter is the best option to get a print?

Ali Ormerod

The Kickstarter campaign gives the public a more cost-effective option whilst also supporting the exhibition and being apart of the reappraisal of Michaels photographs.

Where can show my support?

Ali Ormerod

Our campaign will run until Monday July 15 th. Your support is hugely appreciated and I’d love to thank people personally at the Exhibition in October.
