Javier Kaplan born in Argentina studied Film Direction at the Buenos Aires Film School, but dropped out to pursue his work as a film editor. At 24 he started directing music videos and commercials and in 2014 he started production of his first feature film Ekduo. The experience was such a nightmare that Javier swore off directing anything ever again. Leaving Argentina and moving to Miami, Florida this is where he picked up his still’s camera and began photographing.
Kaplan describes his photography as colourful and upbeat, but also dour and bleak. Given his background as a filmmaker he often thinks in terms of mood and uses light as his main tool to convey the desired atmosphere.
